Enabling an Anatomic View to Investigate Honeypot Systems: A Survey
نویسندگان
چکیده
A honeypot is a type of security facility deliberately created to be probed, attacked, and compromised. It is often used for protectingproduction systemsbydetecting anddeflectingunauthorized accesses. It is also useful for investigating the behavior of attackers, and in particular, unknown attacks. For the past 17 years plenty of effort has been invested in the research and development of honeypot techniques, and they have evolved to be an increasingly powerful means of defending against the creations of the blackhat community. In this paper, by studying a wide set of honeypots, the two essential elements of honeypots—the decoy and the captor— are captured and presented, together with two abstract organizational forms—independent and cooperative—where these two elements can be integrated. A novel decoy and captor (D-C) based taxonomy is proposed for the purpose of studying and classifying the various honeypot techniques. An extensive set of independent and cooperative honeypot projects and research that cover these techniques is surveyed under the taxonomy framework. Furthermore, two subsets of features from the taxonomy are identified, which can greatly influence the honeypot performances. These two subsets of features are applied to a number of typical independent and cooperative honeypots separately in order to validate the taxonomy and predict the honeypot development trends.

Employee engagement and two types of bureaucracy: An investigation into the top-four Iranian universities
The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of bureaucratic structure on the employee engagement (EE). Our study extends previous researches by considering bureaucracy from two points of view: enabling versus hindering. We study the extent to which these two types of bureaucracy are related to the two forms of employee engagement: organizational (OE) and work engagement (WE). The vie...
متن کاملAn Advanced Hybrid Honeypot for Providing Effective Resistance in Automatic Network Generation
Increasing usage of Internet and computer networks by individuals and organizations and also attackers’ usage of new methods and tools in an attempt to endanger network security, have led to the emergence of a wide range of threats to networks. A honeypot is one of the basic techniques employed for network security improvement. It is basically designed to be attacked so as to get the attackers’...

متن کاملA Dynamic Approach for Honeypot Management
Honeypot is a security device the value of which lies mainly in discovering and inspecting, being attacked and being at risk. Most of the present Honeypots are configured and installed on the network statically. In some cases considerations have been made on dynamic configuration of Honeypots at the time of installation but still no study have been carried out on how to instantaneously change t...
متن کاملA Survey of Concurrency Control Algorithms in the Operating Systems
Concurrency control is one of the important problems in operation systems. Various studies have been reported to present different algorithms to address this problem, although a few attempts have been made to represent an overall view of the characteristics of these algorithms and comparison of their capabilities to each other. This paper presents a survey of the current methods for controlling...
